Tsimba Massanga Research Proposal Assignment HelpIntroduction

The proposed research tries to deal with the several different approaches that are present in tackling race discrimination and also to promote race equality in case of health and social care organizations. The provision of health and social services in a nondiscriminatory way has resulted in a wide range of initiatives that are aimed at accommodating diversity in the current environment of equality of participation, equality of opportunity and intercultural ism in the society (McCrudden, 1999). Due to this reason, health and social services are required to reflect the ethnic diversity and also deal with issues like culture, language, ethnicity, customs and religious beliefs.

Background Information

If these issues are not kept in mind, it may result in discrimination and as a result it may have a negative impact on the effectiveness and quality of healthcare services. Due to the reasons like the opening up of the borders and migration from outside, the need for the public services to deal with ethnic and racial discrimination has become more urgent.

Research Purpose

As a result, the present research proposes to deal with the concerns of discrimination by and within the public organizations regarding race, religion or ethnicity and in this regard it is assumed that a significant relationship is present between the way its customers are treated by an organization and also the way in which the employees of the organization are treated by it. The proposed research also aims to look at the experiences of direct as well as in direct discrimination, within the public health services (Pillinger, 1998).
Therefore it can be considered as a significant point for the emergence of effective strategies and policies that can be used to combat racism. Similarly the proposed research also aims at taking a look at some of the examples of good practices by the public authorities in order to learn about progression and recruitment in the public authorities and also to see how these organizations can improve the quality as well as the availability of the services provided by them. In this way, it is also the objective of the present research to inform the development of best practices in strategies related with diversity management (McCrudden, 1999).

There are a large number of countries across the world in which the diversity and racial equality had only recently considered as an area for action in the health and social care services. However, the significant developments in UK, in the Europe as well as at the international level have made an impact on the realization among the policymakers as well as the governments regarding the significance of that diversity management and equal opportunities.

As a result of economic globalization, political upheavel and regional economic crisis, migration across the national borders has been stimulated and therefore, particularly the migrants and refugees have to face discrimination on a large scale. The fact of migration, coupled with an increase in international labor force has made it particularly relevant to deal with the issue of racism in health and social care services (Vydelingum, 2000).
In order to implement race equality in health and social care services, an understanding of the unique experiences of race discrimination is required from the perspective of the users of these services and also the employees and managers working in the field of health and social care services. Till date, not much attention has been paid to the understanding of different values and belief systems and cultures that underpin the present health and social care organizations.

It has been seen that generally the minority ethnic communities are marginalized and as a result they have the beer and undue burden of health problems as well as inequality and discrimination. These barriers in providing health and social care services also have an impact on health outcomes and similarly the access to health and social care services can further be limited by a lack of cultural sensitivity. For example, it was seen that in case of UK, nearly 77% of the black and minority ethnic population was living in eighty-eight neighborhoods that were the most deprived (McCrudden, 1999).
A large number of these people have to face direct or indirect discrimination along with experiencing poor access to health and social care services along with limited information regarding these services and also have to face services that are delivered in appropriately and also face several religious, cultural and language differences. It has also been seen that in case of the people coming from black and ethnic minority communities, the chances are high that they will be dissatisfied with these services (Moore, 2010).
The research related with healthcare experiences among the black and minority ethnic communities has revealed that there is poor access to information, lack of sensitivity regarding culture and traditions, for action to good health care standards along with the presence of communication barriers and discriminate. The elders from black and ethnic minority communities also have to face double discrimination as a result of their age and race and this has a direct impact on the access to health and social care services. It has been seen that considerable problems are faced by the service users from black and minority ethnic communities in accessing the health and social care services (Lovell and Cordeaux, 1999).
At the same time there are several organizational barriers due to which difficulties arise in the implementation of race equality in health and social care organizations. These barriers include the lack of knowledge and skills regarding the minority ethnic communities, the lack of commitment among the organizations to deliver race equality, lack of data and processes that can be used to manage performance and the resistance to changing practices.Order NOw
